Skola24 – Calendar Integration for Swedish Customers (Sysadmin)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

This article explains the Skola24 calendar integration for Swedish itslearning customers: what it does, what your school needs in place before it can be set up, how to request setup, and where to get support.

1 Overview

Skola24 is a timetabling service used by schools in Sweden. The integration reads calendar events from Skola24 and creates, updates and deletes the corresponding events in itslearning automatically. Events are added either as course events, or as hierarchy events that appear on every course the relevant hierarchy is enrolled to.

The integration checks for updates several times a day, so changes made in Skola24 are reflected in itslearning without manual action.

Note: Syncing non-course events to users' personal calendars is available as an option, but this has not yet been fully tested. Discuss this option with itslearning before relying on it.

2 Prerequisites

2.1 Skola24-side requirements

Prerequisite: Your school or district must have requested Skola24 to set up the Export Lektion service. Contact Skola24 to arrange this if it is not already in place.

Prerequisite: You will need your school's Skola24 domain. Find it at skola24.se under “välj domän” (choose domain).

2.2 SAS integration requirements

Prerequisite: Your school must have an active SAS integration with itslearning. This integration is currently not possible to set up for schools without one, because Skola24, the SAS and itslearning must be able to match the same courses or hierarchies to each other.

This matching requirement also affects how your courses need to be set up:

  • If your courses are created automatically through the SAS integration, no further action is needed here.
  • If courses are created manually, the SAS-integration-created hierarchies for those courses must be enrolled to them. Events are then added to the course through the enrolled hierarchy.

3 Setting up the integration

3.1 Steps for the sysadmin

  1. Confirm with Skola24 that the Export Lektion service is set up for your school or district.
  2. Find your school's Skola24 domain at skola24.se (see 2.1 Skola24-side requirements).
  3. Confirm that your school's SAS integration is active, and that courses are either integration-created or have the correct integration-created hierarchy enrolled (see 2.2 SAS integration requirements).
  4. Contact itslearning with your Skola24 domain to request that the integration be set up.

3.2 What itslearning configures

Once you have provided your Skola24 domain, itslearning configures the connection between Skola24 and your site, and sets up the matching between Skola24's courses or groups and the correct courses or hierarchies in itslearning. itslearning can also adjust how the integration behaves, for example which types of events are imported, or whether the sync should be limited to specific schools within your organisation.

4 Support and troubleshooting

If a course is missing expected calendar events, first check that the course is either integration-created, or has the correct integration-created hierarchy enrolled to it. The integration can only add events to courses it can match to a Skola24 group through one of these two routes.

If the issue is not resolved, contact itslearning support.

Note: Skola24's own support is available weekdays 08:00–17:00, by phone on 0515–777 888 or by email at support@skola24.com. The service level agreement for the integration is between Skola24 and your school, not itslearning. For planned maintenance or service status, check Skola24's service status page.
