Univention UCS@school – Itswizard) Connector (Sysadmin)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

This article gives you an overview of how user data synchronisation works at the start of the school year for customers using UCS@school and the Itswizard connector.

Important: This article covers the Itswizard integration of UCS@school only. If your school uses the Dataduck connector or the ID Broker connector instead, see the relevant article for that integration.

1 How it works

The App Connector receives user data (students, teachers, staff) and group information (classes and working groups) from the UCS directory service and processes this on the Univention server. A file containing username, date of birth, first name, last name, and group membership is then transferred via server-to-server communication.

In addition, the app establishes Single Sign-On via the SAML protocol, during which no user data is transferred.

Teachers and students are transferred directly into the LMS along with their group memberships from the central system. As soon as changes are made in the school administration system, these are reflected in itslearning at the same time. For users, this integration means they can access all connected applications with a single login.

2 What happens when changes are made in UCS@school

As a general rule, all changes made in UCS@school are passed on to itslearning on a one-to-one basis.

Change in UCS@schoolEffect in itslearning
A class is deletedThe class is also deleted in itslearning
A class is renamedThe class is also renamed in itslearning (hierarchies)
A user is deleted in UCS@schoolThe user is moved to the recycle bin in itslearning

Note: itslearning courses are not synchronised via UCS.
