Courses – Student View (Teacher)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1 Overview

Course pages do not look the same for all user types. Teachers can preview how their course appears for other roles, such as students, by temporarily switching to a different user view. While previewing, the course behaves as if you are a user with the selected role.

2 Switch to a different user view

  1. Open the course you want to preview.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner of the course page.
  3. Select the role you want to preview (for example, Student).

A light blue banner appears at the top of the page, confirming that you are previewing the course as another role and explaining why your editing options are not available. This menu is available on all course pages.

To return to your own view, click the Exit Student View button in the banner.

3 Limitations

When previewing as a student, the following limitations apply:

  • Task list: You can see the student task list, but only tasks assigned to all students are visible. Tasks assigned to specific students or groups are not displayed.

  • Teacher-restricted pages: Some pages that teachers do not normally have access to — such as the Working portfolio, Assessment portfolio, and certain reports — are displayed as if you were a student. A light yellow banner appears at the top of these pages to indicate this.
