Dutch integration: Timetable integration -

The automatic timetable integration ensures, without any manual effort, that the up-to-date personal timetable is always shown in the itslearning calendar, including in the app on mobile phones. The calendar is synchronised every 5 minutes with what has been published by the timetable maker in the source system (Zermelo or Xedule portal). In addition to regular lessons, tests and activities are also displayed in a recognisable way. When using Zermelo, it can also be shown per student whether they are expected to be physically present at school or should attend online. 

Teachers can add notes – such as homework – to calendar appointments, and these are retained when the timetable changes.

This integration can be used in combination with other integrations and connections, for example for user provisioning from Magister or SOMtoday.

The timetable integration is available in two versions: a BASIC version and a PLUS version. 

BASIC version

The integration populates the personal calendars of teachers and students, and is based on the synchronisation key of the accounts in itslearning. It is therefore a requirement that the synchronisation keys in itslearning match the usernames (login names) in the Zermelo or Xedule portal. In practice, this is usually the student number for students and the timetable code for teachers (this timetable code is also shown in the timetable). This can generally be handled automatically by existing broker software or middleware.

PLUS version 

As of August 2021, alongside the BASIC version there is now also a PLUS version. With this version, lessons and tests can be placed in subject calendars based on the subject code and the class group in the timetabling application. The timetable integration automatically determines which itslearning subject (or, in the case of a combined lesson, which itslearning subjects) an appointment belongs to. For combined lessons, the school can, if desired, specify that an appointment should be placed in a combined subject.

The advantage of using the PLUS version is that teachers can make full use of the calendar's capabilities in combination with the planner, tasks, assignments and deadlines, which can be linked to calendar items.
