Getting started: Adding resources and activities in plans

1. What You'll Accomplish

You'll add essential content to your plan using itslearning's native tools, creating a structured learning experience with files, pages, folders, and basic activities. This process takes about 15 minutes and gives you a functional plan ready for students.


2. Before You Begin

• You've already created a basic plan 

• You have content files ready to upload (documents, images, etc.) 

• You know what learning materials you want to include 

• You have teacher permissions in your course


3. Quick Start Workflow

Step 1: Access Your Plan

Navigate to your course and click on your plan title to open it. If its not on your front page, check the "plans" tab and look for your plan there. 


Step 2: Add Your First Resource

Click the blue "Add" button in the "Resources and Activities" section to open the resource selection menu. The options are the most commonly used itslearning tools.


Step 3: Show all resources

 To see more options, click "Show all". This will open an overview of all the resources you have available. 

Note! Some resources will need you to have an integration or license for separate apps.



Step 4: Upload Files

  • Select "File" from the resources list
  • Click "Browse" or drag and drop your files
  • Add a descriptive title if needed
  • Click "Save"
  • Your file will automatically be added to your plan


Step 5: Create a Welcome Page

  • Click "Add" again and select "Page"
  • Enter a title like "Welcome to [Topic Name]"
  • Add a content block and choose "Rich content" 
  • Use the text editor to add introduction text and instructions
  • Click "Save"

Step 6: Organise with Folders

Sometimes you want to organise the content in a plan - You can use folders in the plan to do this.

  • Click "Add" and select "Folder"
  • Name it clearly (e.g., Link collection or reading list etc)
  • Drag existing resources into the folder or add new ones directly
  • Click "Save"

  • Click "Add" and select "Link"
  • Paste the web address in "URL"
  • Give it a clear title
  • Choose whether to open in new window
  • Click "Save"

Step 8: Create a Simple Task

  • Click "Add" and select "Task" from activities
  • Enter task title and instructions
  • Set basic due date if needed
  • Click "Save"

Step 9: Set Visibility

Review your plan's "Visibility" setting - toggle "Visible for students" on the plan and the resources you want seen when you're ready for them to access the content.
