1 Overview

The image selector dialogue allows you to upload, crop, and select images for use throughout the platform. You can upload new images, reuse previously saved images, or choose from pre-defined illustrations. Images selected through this dialogue appear on course cards and other platform elements.

Note: This is separate from your personal profile picture, which is managed through Your settings > Edit profile.

The information in this article will be added to relevant articles on release.

5 Troubleshooting

Missing illustrations

Symptoms: The "Illustrations" tab seems to miss images.

Cause: Your system administrator has disabled K12-targeted illustrations for your site.

Solution:

  1. Verify you are looking in the correct image selector dialogue (not the profile picture modal).
  2. Contact your system administrator to request that  K12 illustrations be enabled.
  3. Use the "Upload image" or "Your images" tabs as alternatives.

Prevention: Check with your administrator about available image options before planning to use illustrations.

Image Upload Fails in Selector Dialogue

Symptoms: When trying to upload an image, you receive an error message or the upload does not complete.

Cause: The file format is not supported, the file size is too large, or there is a network connection issue.

Solution:

  1. Verify your image is in JPEG (.jpeg, .jpg) or PNG (.png) format.
  2. Check the file size and reduce it if necessary using image editing software (Max 5MB).
  3. Verify your internet connection is stable.
  4. Refresh the page and try uploading again.
  5. Try a different image file to determine if the issue is file-specific.
  6. If the problem persists, contact technical support.

Prevention: Use supported file formats and keep file size under the limit (under 5MB).

Deleted Image Still Appears in Use

Symptoms: After deleting an image from "Your images", it still appears on course cards or other locations where it was previously used.

Cause: Deleting an image from your collection does not remove it from places where it is already in use. This is expected behaviour.

Solution:

  1. Navigate to each location where the image is used (e.g., course properties).
  2. Manually change the image to a different one.
  3. The old image will remain in place until you actively replace it.

Prevention: Understand that "Your images" is a collection for reuse, and deleting from the collection does not affect existing uses.
