Course Profiles

In the articles Profiles Overview and Site Profiles, you learnt about the authorisations for functions at site level. This article focuses on the settings for the course profiles. You can find these under Administration > Profiles on the second tab Course.

The course profiles describe which authorisations the users have based on an assigned role in a course. The role can vary from course to course, as the course management can sometimes adjust the course role.
They are explained in the table below. The green check mark indicates that the functionality is enabled for the profile, while the red x indicates the functionality is disabled for the profile.

Questions to consider:

  • What profiles will you have within your site?  Default profiles include system administrator, administrator, staff, student, guest, and AICC.
  • Looking at the following functionalities, which do you want to apply to each profile? For example, you might not want teachers to be able to make courses if you are creating template courses to distribute from the district level.
